भाजप शिवसेना हे सोबत लढत असताना त्यांच्या मनामध्ये सत्तेचा मोह निर्माण झाला त्यांना दिवसाही मुख्यमंत्र्याची खुर्ची दिसू लागली त्यामुळे त्यांनी काँग्रेस आणि राष्ट्रवादी काँग्रेस सोबत जाण्याची भूमिका घेतली, हिंदुरुदय सम्राट बाळासाहेब ठाकरे यांनी एकदा नाही तर अनेकदा सांगितलं होतं की ज्या दिवशी शिवसेना ही काँग्रेससोबत जाईल त्या दिवशी शिवसेना हा मी बंद करेल असे म्हटल्याची आठवण सुद्धा सुधीर मुनगंटीवार यांनी करून दिली.
